Ingredients
- 150g pudding rice
- 1 litre whole milk
- 75g caster sugar
- 30g butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of ground nutmeg
- Jam to serve
Method
- Grease the slow cooker insert with a little butter.
- Add the rice, milk, sugar, butter, vanilla, and nutmeg.
- Stir well.
- Cook on Low for 3-4 hours, stirring once halfway if possible.
- It's ready when the rice is soft and creamy.
- Serve with a dollop of jam.
Tips
Use pudding rice, not basmati or long grain — it’s starchier and creates that classic creamy texture.
